Peatmoss is made from composted sphagnum moss, it is often used as a base for soil mixtures. It has excellent water retention properties and absorbs nutrients in fertilizers to prevent washing out when watering.

Peatmoss has a lower pH value and is great for acid-loving plants such as blueberries, camellias, begonias, and bulb plants. It can also be mixed into a soil mixture for seedlings.
